The newly digitally remastered two-CD set Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – The Complete Duets (Motown/UME), released November 6, 2001, brings together their three Tamla/Motown albums, plus three recently discovered unreleased recordings: alternate takes of “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing” and “Keep On Lovin’ Me Honey” and the never-before-heard “We’ll Be Satisfied.” Also included are nine previously unreleased Terrell solo versions of songs later made into duets with Gaye, including the original solo version of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” In addition, of the collection’s 52 songs, four Terrell singles from her 1968 solo album Irresistible debut on CD in their original 45 RPM mixes. Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell – The Complete Duets also features a new essay by Brian Chin, including interviews with original producers Johnny Bristol and Ashford & Simpson, and rare photos from the Motown archives.
